What is a Twitch banner maker?
A Twitch banner maker is a tool that creates your profile banner: the wide image across the top of your channel’s About page and profile. New viewers see it when they click your name, before anyone presses play, and a clear banner makes a small channel look cared for.
Template banner makers give you stock layouts with your name swapped in. This one draws original art from your description, in the same eight styles we use for emotes and badges, and composes it for Twitch on purpose: subject on the right half, calm space on the left where your profile details sit, bold colours, no small text. It is generated at 16:9 and cropped in your browser, so you get a 1200×480 Twitch file, a 960×540 Discord file and a 2560×1440 YouTube file from one image.
How to make a Twitch banner with AI
Open the Banner tab, describe your theme, pick a style, sign in and press Generate. A good description covers the games you play, your colours, your mascot and the mood of your stream. If you want your channel name on it, type it in the text box (up to 12 characters).
Your browser crops the result to 1200×480. Download just the Twitch file, or grab the ZIP with the Discord and YouTube versions as well. If the first one misses, change one thing in the description, such as the colours or the setting, and regenerate.
- Name two or three colours, like "purple and teal", to keep the banner on brand.
- Mention your mascot or a key object: a controller, a cosy desk, a sword.
- Keep text to your channel name. Schedules and social handles are better in panels.
What size is a Twitch banner?
Twitch recommends a profile banner of 1200×480 pixels, up to 10 MB, in JPG, PNG or GIF. Every banner made here is exported at exactly 1200×480 as a PNG. The art is generated at 16:9 and cropped in your browser rather than resized to fit, so nothing gets squashed. Upload a different size and Twitch scales and crops it for you, which can cut off the part you care about.
| Where | Size we export |
|---|---|
| Twitch profile banner | 1200×480 PNG |
| Discord banner | 960×540 PNG |
| YouTube channel art | 2560×1440 PNG |
What makes a good Twitch banner?
A good Twitch banner is simple, uses your colours and still works when part of it is covered. Twitch puts your profile details over the banner and shows it at different widths on desktop and phone, so a busy edge-to-edge design often loses its best part.
The banner instruction the AI gets already covers most of this: main subject on the right half, calm left half, vibrant colours, no small text. You pick the theme and the style.
- Keep the main subject to one side, not dead centre.
- Use your brand colours so the banner matches your emotes and panels.
- Leave out fine detail. The banner is often seen small.
- Only add your channel name. Everything else belongs in panels.
Twitch banner ideas
The best Twitch banner ideas show what your stream is about in one look. Here are five to start from. Describe any of them in a sentence and add your colours and channel name.
- Your mascot in the middle of your favourite game world.
- A cosy room scene: desk, monitor glow, plants, a sleeping pet.
- Pixel art landscape for retro and speedrun channels.
- A bold abstract pattern in your brand colours with your channel name.
- An anime-style skyline for VTuber and anime channels.
How to upload your banner to Twitch
Download the 1200×480 file, open your Twitch Creator Dashboard, go to Settings → Channel → Brand and upload it under Profile Banner. The change shows on your channel straight away. If you want a different look later, generate a new version in another style and swap it in. Need a matching offline screen too? The Channel Kit includes one at 1920×1080.
Make the whole channel match
To make the whole channel match, use one style and one mascot across every piece. The Twitch emote maker handles chat emotes, the Twitch sub badge maker loyalty badges, the PFP maker your avatar and the Twitch logo maker a mascot.
Or let the Channel Kit do it: 15 matching pieces for $9.99. It draws your PFP first and uses it as the reference for a banner, six emotes, three sub badges, three panels and an offline screen. Making pieces one at a time instead? Keep the same style and mention your mascot in every description.
How much does a Twitch banner cost?
A banner costs 40 credits and needs a free account. Credit packs start at $5.99 for 250 credits, paid once, and the credits never expire, so one pack covers several banner ideas plus a set of emotes. Banners are saved to My Emotes and stay private; they never go into the public gallery. See pricing for every pack.
